Preservation land will increase access to recreation area

GOLD BAR — Snohomish County has bought land along the U.S. 2 corridor as a future portal to the great outdoors in state forests.
The county’s new 8-acre property sits near Wallace Falls State Park and the Department of Natural Resource’s Reiter Foothills.
In the coming months, nonprofits and community groups are lining up to help build a parking lot and trails to reach state lands, county parks Director Tom Teigen said. This particular area will give access to nonmotorized park users: hikers, equestrians and cyclists, among others.
