Yesterday, May 8th, some of our family walked up the Index-Galena road to the Forks of the Sky beach. On the main road just outside Skyko 1 a very skinny bear came out on the road and walked ahead of them for several minutes. The bear was aware of them being just 100 yds away and didn’t appear concerned.
Yes, they continued their walk to the beach after the bear left the road. Our family were visiting from Seattle and did not understand the danger of a possibly hungry early spring skinny bear.
