Hey all!!

We normally hang around until 10-11 pm at the Arts Festival but this year was different. We had guests from out of town, Dottie had a booth and we were just plain busy and it rained quite a bit, albeit not too serious until the evening.

Since we don’t have a waterproof casing for the digital camera, we shot photos quite early in the morning till’ very early afternoon and called it quits. That being said, here are 39 quick shots we took while roaming the festivities during the morning and afternoon. Luckily this year, we were able to get the Mayor during the opening ceremonies. We normally miss this part of the festival as we are setting up our self.

Thanks to all the folks that dropped by to say HI, Mark R., Barb T. and MANY others.

Index Arts Festival

The Index Arts Group Festival is rapidly approaching. This year the festival will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 and according to the President of the group, Yvonne Lawson, it will be a bigger and better event than in the past 6 years.

Lawson says there will be over 40 booths set up by artists, woodcarvers, home décor artists and a multitude of other types of art that has not yet been displayed locally. There will also be a surprise guest from New York in attendance. (Hint: the guest is originally from Seattle). “UPDATE”: 07.16.09 – Special guest will not be in attendance due to a conflict in scheduling.

Poetry readings are scheduled for early afternoon at the festival headed by Roy Seitz, a local poet, as well as live bands throughout the day. A total of 14 bands and 60 musicians will be performing.

Various types of food will be available for your dining pleasure, supplied by the Index General Store & Wave Trek (aka “The Riverhouse”). Lawson added that it would not be an Arts Festival without “edible art”, so that too will be on the menu. The festivities begin at 10am Saturday August 1st. Mayor Bruce Albert will be doing the opening ceremony.

Live music until 10pm.

See ya’ there!
