Police are warning neighbors about a convicted sex offender who will be living in the Sultan area.
He will be living in the 36500 block of 132nd Street SE, off of Kellogg Lake Road, north of Startup.
He is described as white, about 5-foot-7 and 190 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

SULTAN — A $4.9 million roundabout is expected to open for traffic today along U.S. 2 at Rice Road.
The highway has been closed to a single lane since Sunday while crews built the roundabout, the first one on the highway in Snohomish County.
Originally, the Department of Transportation believed the work could cause 90-minute delays and miles of backups. Instead, it only caused 20-minute delays during rush hour at the beginning of the week.
“The drivers took our advice and found another routes,” Transportation spokeswoman Meghan Pembroke said.

SULTAN — Expect delays as long as 90 minutes on U.S. 2 as crews start building a roundabout on the highway this weekend.
The state Department of Transportation is telling people to avoid the town unless they really need to go there. Construction is expected to start Sunday and last five days.

Work on roundabout in Sultan delayed
SULTAN — Bad weather made the Washington State Department of Transportation postpone construction of a roundabout on U.S. 2.
Now, the DOT is planning to narrow the highway to one lane starting at 7 p.m. April 8 until 6 a.m. April 13 on Rice Road, east of Sultan.
“We hope to get it done in April before summer travel picks up,” spokeswoman Meghan Pembroke said.

SULTAN — Officials have identified a man killed in a one-car accident near Sultan last week.
Roy R. Gasselsdorfer, 65, of Sultan, died Feb. 2 after his car crashed into a tree off Mann Road, southeast of the city.

SULTAN — An outdoor recreation club for nudists agreed last month to dismiss its lawsuit challenging state’s transfer of trust lands to Snohomish County for a future gun range.
While letting the state off the hook, Lake Bronson Associates has vowed to keep close watch on Snohomish County and its plans to build a public shooting range along Sultan Basin Road. Concerns about noise and environmental damage remain for the club and other neighbors.

SULTAN — The lake that provides 95 percent of the city’s water is empty.
Workers discovered there was a leak at the bottom of the dam at the man-made lake on Wednesday morning. To keep water flowing to the city’s taps, Sultan is getting water from Everett.
The reservoir, known as Lake 16, is located 2 miles from the city’s water treatment plant and is a 45-minute drive from downtown.

STARTUP — People in this community east of Sultan were shocked earlier this year to learn that they soon could be living in a special flood-hazard area.
To the best anyone can recall, this unincorporated area north of the Skykomish River had never flooded — at least not since the late-19th century, when raised railroad tracks were built, creating a dike between their community and the river.

SULTAN — Residents who live south of the Skykomish River Slough trying to drive downtown will spend more time getting there this holiday season.
The 90-foot-long bridge at 311 Ave. SE will be closed for 10 days starting at 7:30 a.m., Dec. 20. The bridge will be dismantled so workers can replace support beams and portions of the timber deck.
Residents living south of the bridge will be detoured through Monroe on Ben Howard and Lewis roads to reach U.S. 2.
