Frogs, ALREADY?

Here it is, just past the full week of February and we are hearing frogs!

Is that the norm? I can recall them in March, cranking up their mating ribbits, but in February?

Let us know if you live in the Northwest and hear frogs ribbiting already.

Photos: Destruction of The Wes Smith House

Following are some photos of the destruction (demolition sounds too harsh) of the historical Wes Smith house, beginning to end.

While photographing over time, I was fortunate enough to meet Dave Smith, Wes Smith’s son.  We had a great conversation.  We feel that the conversation was more of a private meeting, so that said, we will not go into details of the why’s and who’s of reasons for the house being torn down.  We just feel it was a confidential discussion and would feel it’s a breech of trust to post the information.

It is a sad day indeed and the full size photos have already been transferred to the Index Historical Society’s hands.

Photos: Index Cookie Exchange 12.10.11

The Town of Index Annual Cookie Exchange took place yesterday at 2:00pm.  I did not have the “umph” or get up and go (my get up and go, got up and went) to attend.  It was my wife’s assignment to snap a few real quick photos.

Below are snapshots from the Cookie Exchange.  Thanks to everybody for sharing with me, the cookie monster (I’ve heard David Meier does a good job eating cookies too).

Photos: Index Arts Festival 2011

It was a long day for us but we enjoyed our selves as did many hundreds of folks at the Arts Festival.  Yvonne pulled it off once again.  Many thanks Yvonne for working so hard all year long on this project.

Furthermore, the idiot that I am, I did not make it through the whole grounds of the festival and missed plenty of photo opportunities.  There are some vendors and wares to view and a couple of musicians, but I blew it really.  We could not stay until closing as happened last year.  We had guests from out of town (family) and family comes first.

The photos we did shoot, we sincerely hope you enjoy and accept our apologies if you will.

Photos: The Cedar Log Arrival Into the Town of Index

The cedar log arrived as planned, at 10am this morning, transported by Mike Eddy (and he was on time!!).

Master wood carver Ralph Bennett, showed up also adding a lot of flare to the morning.

Enjoy the photos:

Town of Index Annual Newsletter and Consumer Confidence Report Now Available

The Town of Index annual Newsletter and Consumer Confidence Report has been posted to the website.

The link is HERE.

Many thanks goes out to Lisa this year. She was kind enough to email it to us and we converted it to a PDF. Normally, we have been scanning them in for you but this saved us some work. :)

Town of Index DSL

Just got off the phone about he DSL issues.

The TOWN’s DSL box will be on Crescent Trail (yippee…that is really great as it’s CLOSE).

Skyko1 and Riversites is supposed to be up and running on the 20th of this month. That is what the bosses are shooting for but the employees doing the work are saying, uhhhhhhhhh, yeah. OK. So that tells us the progress is a bit slower than what the bosses want.

The Town’s DSL is supposed to be up within 5 days after Skyko1 and Riversites.

Just a heads up.

Our Error on David Cameron

Throughout the site at IndexWa.org you may notice a lot of information from David Cameron.  He has a lot of knowledge about the Town of Index as well as knowledge about the valley in general (heck, he wrote a book which by the way is introduced on IndexWa.org).  If you are interested in the book, contact us and we will forward your information to David.

We have inadvertently introduced David Cameron, PhD. as “THE” Town Historian.  We stand corrected as of this post.  David Cameron is “A” Town Historian.

That in mind, David IS The President of The Historical Society for The Town of Index.

We apologize for the error.

Who Am I?

We get a lot of emails asking “who are you and where do you live”? I am not too fond of my pictures and never have been however, my name is Ed and here is a picture of me. I live in the Town of Index.

There, the air is cleared.
