Thank you David Meier for sending this to us. It’s funny and well done.

Comment from David:
As you probably know we, here, in Index, rely on a service, sponsored by
the Sno-Isle Library system, to bring us books, videos and other educational resources, called
the Bookmobile. I have been a patron for many years and to celebrate
National Bookmobile Day, yes, there is such a thing, the mobile librarians
(aka “The Bookmobile Babes”. I’m not being sexist. It is a fact.) asked
the Index patrons (we are their favorite stop) to participate in a video
titled Why We Love Our Bookmobile. This was a nationwide program to film
bookmobile patrons around the country touting the praises of their
bookmobile. I just have to say, after viewing some of the other videos
posted on youtube, that ours, far and away, surpasses any other efforts.
The production values alone are far superior, and the talent, well, let me
just say that the talent merits mention. Is that an Oscar I smell?
We have taken the liberty to post the video in our Forums. You can view the vid HERE. It that does not work, try http://indexwa.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=158&t=1270
This just in from Chief Michael Fitzgerald, Fire District #28.

The new Waste Management Schedule for garbage hauling will be Monday’s with the first pick up to be on March 5, 2012.
Recycle will be picked up on alternating Monday’s but as of this moment we have not heard when the recycle pick up begins.
If anybody has word, please let us know.
Thanks.

Unofficial word: Regular trash pick up is Monday the 5th of March and starting the FOLLOWING Monday, trash and recycle pick up. Recycle pick up is every other week after that. Again, it’s unofficial so we’ll find out this coming Monday I guess.
Ed,
At this point the problem primarily is with the Snoqualmie system, which has had minor flooding predicted from the town on down the valley past Duvall. More swiftly is the Pilchuck, which has risen sharply about five feet during the day and is at a Phase 3 flood. Mt. Pilchuck, and the Sultan Basin have been taking water, while the South Fork Stilly is moving up more slowly. We’re a couple of feet shy of the official Phase 2, which due to the need to recalibrate the gauge/flood stage level still leaves the river within the bank along Avenue A.
On the other hand, the temperature finally has started to rise, up a degree since my regular reading time of 1600 to 41.2 at the moment. I had 2.5″ in the backyard rain gauge between 1600 yesterday and 1600 today.

Check especially the Forescast section and under it “Watches and Warnings” and then “Washington State Forecast Discussions,” notably the “hydrology” portion.

This is the county web site to read the stream guages.
Boy, this has been one tough year and it has just begun.
We have had more power outages than I (in my 9 years up here in Index) have ever seen.
And today no phone service until just recently (maybe the past 2 hours)? I just checked.
We were able to speak to a Frontier employee in Monroe while doing our banking. He stated “I just overheard a conversation that somebody by ‘some bridge’ had sliced through a fiber optic line”.
So, on our way home, we checked all the bridges (and there are quite a few) between Monroe and Index and we saw no activity at all. We guess it could have been further up toward Baring or on the South Fork.
Who knows. Life is back to normal as of 7:46 pm.
Comments? Please post’em.

The Town of Index Annual Cookie Exchange took place yesterday at 2:00pm. I did not have the “umph” or get up and go (my get up and go, got up and went) to attend. It was my wife’s assignment to snap a few real quick photos.
Below are snapshots from the Cookie Exchange. Thanks to everybody for sharing with me, the cookie monster (I’ve heard David Meier does a good job eating cookies too).
