AUGUST 2009 Edition

MoiThis is the HTML version of the IndexWa.org newsletter. Sent to a WHOPPING 99 MEMBERS monthly (well, most of the time). Hey, we never claimed to be big. News As It Happens has 60 members.  Join'em.

IF YOU HAVE NEWS TO REPORT AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT IN OUR NEWSLETTER EMAIL IT TO US.  WE ACCEPT NEWS THROUGH THE 3RD WEEK OF THE MONTH.  NEWS AS IT HAPPENS IS ACCEPTED AT ANY TIME.

There has not been a heck of a lot going on lately.  This webmaster was busy in July with a visit from his brother and his wife from Omaha, NE.  It's always good to get reacquainted with loved ones after many years apart.

We had no time for the "touristy stuff" though.  We visited relatives in Covington and Shoreline and crammed 2 weeks of visits into 4 days.  The wife and I are still recovering.  Have you ever tried to put 10 pounds of potatoes into a 5 pound sack?  We pretty much accomplished that.

DON'T FORGET (This info is in the newsletter twice) - On August , 2009, the Index Arts Festival will be in full swing beginning at 10am.  The President of the group, Yvonne Lawson stated there will be over 40 booths, 16 bands with 40 musicians, edible art and much, much more.

AND - Mark your calendar for August 22, 2009 for the 7th annual Skykomish Show n’ Shine Custom Car & Hot Road show in the Town of Skykomish, located just 13 miles east of Index.

It appears that August will be a busy month for the small towns East of Goldbar.  Small Towns - Big Doins'.

July 4th Past Event:

There was a super turnout on Independence Day within the town.  We met a lot of people that are subscribers to our newsletter.

The parade was a huge success and there were more people and floats in the event than we normally have.

Check out our Blog to view photos of this event.

Don't Forget:

Don't forget that on August 1, 2009, The Index Arts Festival begins.  Mayor Bruce Albert will do the opening ceremony at 10 am sharp.

According the Index Arts Group President, Yvonne Lawson, this will be the best festival yet since its inception six years ago.

There will be over 40 booths with artists displaying and selling their wares.  Edible Art will also be on the menu.

Kudos

At the previous Town Council Meeting, Sgt. Rob Martin was in attendance.  Martin stated that 2 arrests have been made on June 9, 2009 in reference to the vandalism, thefts, and burglaries that have been happening over the past few months.  The arresting officer was Deputy Cook from Gold Bar. The arrests were made within the town of Index and Sgt. Martin said there are possibly three more suspects yet to be arrested in connection with the incidents.

Welcome's and Thank You's

We thank and welcome Larry Baumgartner & Lynette Hensley of Asset Realty Group.  They are our latest supporters on IndexWa.org.  Larry and Lynette placed a 2 month ad on our blog.  Please visit their site at www.ComeBuyAHouse.com and click their ad on the blog to view an awesome home for sale in Index.

Thank you to David Meier of A Cabin on the Sky (www.acabinonthesky.com) for extending his ad on the Home Page of IndexWa.org for an additional year.

Last but for sure not least, a big thank you to Michael S. for his generous $10 donation to IndexWa.org.

All of these folks combined, have given us breathing room for a couple of months.  As this webmaster is unemployed currently (with no end in site) and the web site bills don't stop coming in (software upgrades, hosting, extra costs after xxx emails a day, the SQL server and a few other items are not free) their generosity has made IndexWa.org possible for a few months to come..

We have an envelope on my desk that has advertiser monies and donations in it, all targeted for IndexWa.org.  We don't spend it on anything else.  It was empty as of July 1 and is now just "low".  You folks are GREAT!

PLEASE  - If you are looking for a home to buy or a place to stay for a few nights or a week, we ask you to support our advertisers and donors.  All pages on the site are advertiser supported.  They are what makes IndexWa.org possible.
